Addressing computing-related as well as data-related issues, focuses on making it easier for researchers to acquire and utilize sequences of IT services over the lifespan of a research project. Has the goal of making Penn State’s collection of IT services function in a more integrated manner, freeing researchers to focus on their research.
Members of this group work to address the difficulties that face researchers when their computing environments span multiple IT service providers over the lifetime of a research project. The group looks at both data-related issues and computing-related issues, with the goal of making Penn State’s collection of IT services function in a more integrated manner, freeing researchers to focus on their research. This working group will include faculty as well as representatives of the prior Data Centers and Research Network working groups, and representatives of the Enterprise IT Cloud Program, the Secure Enclave Service, the Office of Information Security, the University Libraries, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and others.
Some of the specific issues and questions confronting this working group include:
- Work toward an end-to-end governance program surrounding research data, using the “Research Project Technical Life Cycle” diagram as a reference document; and
- Use our administrative knowledge to integrate our Compliance Processes and Systems, Research Information Systems, and Research Data Services with a goal of making the administrative functions of our Researchers more efficient.
